Equine Assisted Learning

This program consists of a curriculum that drives objectives to desired outcomes.  

Each exercise is experiential and designed in a Building Block style, focusing on one objective at a time.  The focal point of the 12 week curriculum develops life skills. 

Using the horses as a barometer, self examination and change occur.

Certified EAL facilitators observe the non-verbal communication of the horse and translate the behavior to guide the learner to the objective of the exercise.

Research supports this approach to learning. It greatly enhances the retention and understanding of skills learned and overflows to Activities of Daily Living (ADL).

​Our equine professionals encourage participants to unify their efforts, join together and work as allies, stimulate negotiation and share the available resources to find success. Our seminars and workshops are designed to be client centred. Working closely with you, we will custom build a program which will address the specific needs of the group, creating a fun and interactive experience that will be remembered long after you leave the arena. Equine-Assisted Learning has been used in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, including:

• Post-traumatic stress disorder
• Attention deficit hyperactive disorder
• Anxiety
• Behavioral issues, including aggressive behavior
• Substance abuse
• Eating disorders, including anorexia and bulimia
• Relationship problems
• Communication issues

Equine-assisted sessions, which involve a Certified EAL facilitator, vary depending on the condition being treated and the person(s) involved. In general, traditional experiential learning, such as role-playing, role-reversal, and mirroring, are combined with equine-based activities, including choosing, grooming, and walking a horse.

The horse-based sessions can provide numerous benefits, which can arise in as little as one session. Benefits include improved:
